my Sony desktop seems to need a new driver that allows my increcible to be charging in the USB port. When I plug it in, my PC wireless disconnects. When I unplug the USB cable to my Droid, it comes back on. Is there a driver for my pc to allow me to use wireless on both?

Are you using PDANet or Easy Teather that would have the computer view it as a network device?

do I need both pdanet and easy tether. you are saying that if I use these apps, when I plug my usb cable from my phone into my PC that it will not disconnect my wireless on my pc to my router with att?

Why would you need to tether your phone if you have working internet?

I think you may have a bit of confusion going on here. Are you just wanting to connect your phone to the computer to charge and/or transfer music etc between them? If so all you need to do is connect the phone and select how you want it connected.

If you are wanting to tether your phone for internet access, you will need an app like PdaNet etc.

My guess is because the computer sees your phone as a cellular data device like an aircard and disconnects your wifi so it doesn't get 'confused' about having two network connections. When you connect your phone to the computer are you selecting Disk drive (not Mobile Connect)

That's what I was getting at. Easy teather requires an install on the PC and I was thinking that it might have confused the drivers and removing the EasyTeather would solve it.

Sorry if I was not clear... It was a late and stressful night last night.

Okay, 1) my pc is wireless in house. 2) new Droid Wireless needed charging 3) plugged USB cable from phone to PC 4) PC wireless disconnected 5) removed USB cable and had to 'repair' connection 6) Pville said to load tether and I did 7) now have two computer icons on my task bar 8) PC wireless is on 9) plugged my USB to phone in and window asked to 'charge', 'use as usb' or "mobile broadband" 10) tried all of them and when I plug in USB, PC wireless still gets a big fat red X .

Am I doing something wrong? or is there a setting I need to change.

Cindisue-

Again, I'm sorry if I was not clear last night. You can uninstall the EasyTeather on your phone, and on your PC too if you installed anything there. But I have a few questions to see if we can figure this out.

Is your Wireless card a USB card or a built in card? In other words, does the device that actually connects to the wireless live inside the computer or is it pluged into a USB port?

If it is a USB Wireless card, are you plugging the phone into the same group of USB prots as the Wireless? If you are, try connecting to ports on a different part of the computer. For example if it's a desktop, and you have everything pluged into the back of the computer, try pluging the phone into the front of the computer.

Let us know what happens.

Ok so basically you are just wanting to charge and it is disconnecting your wireless connection on your pc.

1. Goto click the menu button goto settings.
2. Goto connect to PC.
3. See if ask me is checked, if its not check it.
4. Click on default connection type.
5. It's probably on mobile broadband connect, change it to charge only. Click done.

After that uninstall anything you have put on your computer dealing with tethering etc. Reboot your pc. Once back to desktop plug in your phone via usb cable, your phone should ask you what connection do you want. If you only want to charge select charge only. If you want to charge and transfer files pick hard disk.

Let us know how it works out.

Sounds like Tether is still trying to take over the connection. Unless you need to be able to tether your phone to the pc for connectivity(internet) uninstall both apps from the phone and computer. Then try it again. I believe that may solve your issue. At least I hope.

I always had the default to charge only because i don't know how to sync my contacts or calendar which is my next task after this wireless issues is corrected.

my setting is on 'ask me' and 'charge only'. Any other suggestions

Not anymore from me that I can think of. Nothing on the phone except that "mobile broadband connection" setting and tether applications would try to control your WiFi to your computer.

Syncing is easy.

As far as syncing daily my calendar on Outlook and Contacts in Outlook, my sales guy loaded all my contacts into Mr. Incredible. But I am afraid to sync to my outlook as I said I had to import all my outlook contacts into an excel and import that into my droid. but does that mean I have to do that each day when I want to cross sync new infor into my outlook as well as outlook into my phone? Then there is the Calendar which I use extensively and I have heard I have to stop using outlook and go through google calendar. ??

I think this is what I have. A PC that does not have wireless. I ahve ATT wireless and I also have an adapter Dlink that is plugged into the back on my PC in a USB port. Ah Ha....
my laptop has a builkt in wireless.

Try connecting to the front ports. The phone may be hogging all the juice from the hub. You could also try with a powered usb hub.

I'm guessing it's a software 'conflict' between the Sony wireless program and the phone

I know Verizon Aircards will automatically disconnect themselves if the laptop is connected to a wireless network - it's a software feature

not sure how to disable that - sounds like the same thing is happening with the laptop. You could try uninstalling the Sony wifi software and letting Windows manage the wireless
