PdaNet stopped working

I have used PdaNet for years with no problem (Verizon). I thought I had used it with my Pixel XL too. I went to use it yesterday and got a message saying

"WiFi mode is not supported on this system. Please use USB mod or Bluetooth mode instead of this software"

This is terrible because my son used to use this on car trips to access the internet. Any ideas on what happened or how to get it working again?

Why not just use the built-in hotspot feature? Or are you trying to bypass the subscription check so you don't have to pay for tethering?
