I have been having trouble getting a consistent connection for my laptop. It will work for a while and then it says disconnected. If I unplug the usb and reconnect it usually works for a while then disconnects again. Sometimes it says use google dns but I already have that selected. Then it usually doesn't reconnect again for a while. Is this a common issue? Are there any solutions that don't involve rooting? I'm wondering if the Froyo update will solve this problem.

I was having the same issue and decided to try a different usb cable (the cable that came with my old Samsung Moment) and so far i've maintained the connection for over 30 minutes. With the cable that came with the Epic I don't keep the connection for more than 10 minutes, sometimes disconnecting within seconds of getting connected.

My wife tried the same usb with her Epic and her laptop. It seems to work just fine so it's my phone or laptop that is the issue I guess. I'll try to narrow it down when I get a chance and report back the results.

Have you tried reinstalling pda net (on both your computer and epic) to see if its an easy software issue?
