Looks intriguing. I like Pebble in general, but I wonder if this is going to cause more fragmentation.

I bought a steel last year and am happy with what it does. Wishful thinking that we would get pebble time software.

I like the looks of it. I'm glad smartwatch makers are finally trying to give options to the women/smaller-wristed folk. Personally I feel that even the 42mm moto 360 or the Samsung gear s2, may still be too large for many women. I've never tried them on, but I would never buy a 42mm watch without trying it first, as it may be too large. The 38mm pebble round is probably the only solution smartwatch I would buy without wearing it first (just looking at the size).
I think the prices for the smartwatches are still way too high for what they can do. The new pebble is no different. 250$ is a lot of money for a device of little functionality. The 400$+ price range for Android wear is crazy for something that offers slightly more functionality. Especially when they will probably need to be charged every night and the battery will degrade withing 2-3 years. And don't even get me started on the Apple watch.

I agree with everything you said.
Pebble should aim for the 150 to 200 price market. I bought my steel last Christmas for 150 and love it. I just need simple notifications in case my kids school calls, wife calls, etc. Other stuff to me is stuff to tinker with. The Huawei watch looks great, but if it involves more then a simple glance, I take out my phone.

Exactly. The pebble round looks nice, but not 250$ nice. A smartwatch in my opinion should allow the distractions of a smartphone to get out of the way. I could leave my phone in a bag while I'm out with friends or spending time with family and not have to worry about missing an important call or notification. I have a tendency to miss those sort of messages since I (a) am not staring at my phone all day (b) have the ringer/vibrations turned off (I find it weird if everyone knows when I get a message -- but maybe that's just me) and (c) don't like carrying my around phone in my hand and women's pockets just don't cut it. I like the idea of not being restricted by my phone all the time, while also being able to stay connected.

My favourite smartwatch on the market right now would have to be the Vector Luna. Always on display, discreet gesture controlled notifications, looks like a regular watch, and an awesome 30-day battery life. For me, I think it would be great to be able to take calls and use voice dictation for texts straight through the watch too rather than having to take your phone out. But it's too big for me (44mm) and too expensive for what it does (starts at 350$ I believe). The gear s2 is also a tempting option, but again, it's on the large side and starts at 400$.

I like that they are adding a round watch face, but its not my kind of design. I prefer round watches, that what I see as a watch and regardless of the apple crowd round is the right way to go. Samsung's new smartwatch is superb now they just need to make it compatible with ios and android across the board and watch sales go up.

I bought my watch and every other electronic device I own based on my needs. Granted the timing is bad, but does it make your current product function any less? I bought 2 dslrs for 2,000.00 each. 9 months later a new model came out. Didn't make mine worse. I bought it for what it provided and even after newer models w more features mine performed no different from when I purchased them.

I've been interested in Pebble for a while. Can anyone give me a sense of how they like the Timeline interface?
