Pedometer needs improvement [Samsung Gear S2]

For me, the pedometer function is the most important. My Gear S2 is also WAY off. I wear it with my FitBit Charge and the Gear is reading 5038 and the FitBit is 7022. When I take a step, I can see it increment on my FitBit instantly, one for one. When I check on my Gear S2 it seems to register about 3 out of 4 steps but not exactly -- more like 7 out of 10? This is OLD technology. I can't believe that Samsung cannot get this right. I'm also shocked that there is no settings for the pedometer -- length of stride, height of user, which hand (dominant or not). Thought this was supposed to tie into Samsung Health but instead it gives the impression that the whole program is buggy.

I am pretty disappointed with my Gear S2. I come from a Gear 2 Neo, which, I agree, looked pretty ugly but had way more/better functions than the Gear S2. I feel it had a way better step counter and a very good and, with the phone integrated sleep monitor.
One should have thought that this more modern and more expensive Gear S2 would have at least similar functions or even more advanced versions of them.
I hope that Samsung will do some improvements with new programing.

I have always been a fitbit guy but got this Gear S2 free when I bought my wife a new phone. I was told I could sync it with my fitbit app but that doesn't work. My steps on this do seem low.

I ordered a fitbit one on Ebay so I will use that for fitness and the Gear S2 for everything else. I do like it and feel it is very useful. I will compare both. I have a charge HR I may wear for a day and compare.

I'm waiting to hear from someone that the Gear S2 4g works good as a standalone on a treadmill using Nike. I'll stick with my Apple Watch for now but hoping Samsung really fixes it based on feedback from multiple users who take the watch out alone on the treadmill.

I always use my Gear s2 3G version with GPS to go run and save my track. And I can say that is too weak, the GPS signal is weak, it takes some time to have satellites and always comparing the same route sometimes mark 4km other times 3km in same traject and not quite right with the phone track. So the Gear S2 3G no good for training.

I did check with the Samsung chat line concerning the discrepancy between the step tracking of my Gear S2 and the gear manager of my S6 phone. They were not aware of this and had no idea what to do, and could not make any statement concerning the accuracy of either device.
They recommended to consult with the Samsung Product Specialist at a Best Buy store. Well I did this, and it was an amazing encounter. I seemed to know more about the basic features of the Gear S2 than the young man who was supposed to be the Samsung specialist. He basically had no clue what I was talking about, but decided to update my gear manager on the phone, and was hoping that this would solve the problem. It did not change anything, and I made a 20 mile one way trip for nothing!

Yesterday I updated my gear S2 3G AT&T (Firmware ..... BPF6). Today as usual was making a run, and apparently the new firmware no bring improvements for this , 2minutes to catch satellites and continues with difference in distance compared to the phone.
It's sad, but the Gear S2 is not for sport.

A statement in defense of gear s2. When I shave - s2 has me still about a thousand steps, but s2 is understandable and in general, while I spend the calories too. For comparison, when I shave, fitbit charge hr shows more steps than s2, so I have a reason to trust more s2. As for the fact that s2 does not update the number of each step - you really need to see your every move? They consider all the steps, but not every update on the display. But of course, this is not a professional tool, since You will realize that the size of the nail is difficult to judge the human eye color. But I can not imagine why I meticulously to know how many steps I did.
