People currently with 4G LTE

LTE is a great technology no doubt about it.. It's gonna stay with us for a long long time. Carriers won't have to update networks for at least 5-6 maybe even 10 years.

Its not feasible for me to give up Verizon. I am an otr truck driver and the other carriers just don't hold up to Verizon with network reliability. I can't use a prepaid carrier because I have to be able to roam. At&t service just really don't cut it unless your in a big area or major hwy. And T-Mobile... let's not even go there.

The whole LTE discussion has really gotten ridiculous in my opinion. I've seen a few articles that slam Google for not including LTE in this phone. To me, LTE isn't that important a feature on a smartphone. How much speed do you really need? Are you downloading torrents on your phone that you need massive downloading rates? HSPA+, when the network is good, provides more than enough download speed for the common tasks you would do on a phone. Other than that, you have wifi, which most people have easy access to. LTE has been blown way out of proportion.

So, LTE is blown out of proportion? Does your phone have it?

VZW S3 Unlmtd, get speeds as high as 50+ mbps and < 80ms pings. And that sweet VZW coverage. Big screen, cpu, ram and quick network speed = one heckuva enjoyable pocket rocket!

Yes, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

Yeah lte is what majority of people look for in a smartphone (not all) but it is a good thing lte is fast as fug and it might not just be torrents movie streaming/downloading online gaming plenty of good uses for lte

I have it with VZW and I too think it's blown out of proportion. I would think differently if battery life were not effected by it. To me LTE is like a car with a Ferrari engine and HSPA+ is the same car with a Corvette engine. The one with the Ferrari engine is faster, but fuel effeciency will suffer accordingly. The one with the Corvette engine, while not as fast, most people probalby could not tell the difference. Plus the fuel effeciency is much better. To most people the poor fuel effeciency is just not worth it.So unless you are downloading large files, it's like having either car and only driving it to the grocery store. LTE for me is only a bragging right.

Understand your analogy but not quite the right analogy. Gasoline is mucho more expensive then battery electricity. Perhaps a better analogy might be fuel tank size. But I do understand what you are saying although I disagree that LTE is blown out of proportion.

I'm always around a charger; work/home/car. And for those rare times I'm more remote, I have a 5800 Anker external battery. Legacy stuff from my Thunderbolt days. :-)

I have unlimited data on Verizon and LTE covering my area. It's not worth giving up but I am seriously considering buying a Nexus 4 and getting the $30 T-Mobile plan and just having a second line.

If I wasn't still on contract w/ AT&T, I'd get it and switch to either Straight Talk or T-Mobile. I tested a One-S at the T-Mobile store against a One X at the AT&T store across the street in LA w/ LTE coverage: the One S had faster downloads, and ping rate only slightly slower. T-Mobile may not be as fast as some areas for ATT's LTE (I'm getting about 20+ Mbps now in San Francisco), but it's only a fraction of the cost for a comparable plan. LTE has an adverse effect on battery, but then again, so does 42Mbps HSPA+.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. For $299 I can play with the N4 on T-Mobile. And later on decide whether to keep two phones and two services or sell one. Going off contract with T-Mobile makes it easy. And it gives me time for my Verizon contract to run out in a few months.

Likewise... Going on trips for the next two big holiday's, so will be perfect scenarios to test this phone outside of my current town for Nov/Dec. Can't wait!!!
