People Edge Color Notifications

Been trying to play more with the edge screen features and I'm trying to figure out People Edge but still not quite understanding the functionality.

Does the color notifications only activate with phone calls and text messages? Can I use a 3rd party app for text messages and still get the color notifications? What about e-mails coming from the assigned contacts? Or hangouts?

It is only for phone calls and messages using the stock apps. With the phone face down, it will illuminate the edge to the color of the person who is calling you if they are on your apps Edge. You will also see a tab in the color you set. You can pull it out to see more info or call them.

I use it I think it's cool but this is also the 1st phone I'm using the stock messaging app. I don't turn my phone over usually but I did try the colored light it was cool. But for tetxing and email ti's cool to see the colored tab. I'm still learning the whole edge thing too.

I want those colors on the side back.. that was one of the very few reasons I bought this phone.. any tips ?? The latest "forced" update gas ruined my phone
