People receiving your phone--how is the signal strength?

In dBm (NOT bars) is your signal strength better or worse?

People need to STOP LOOKING AT THE NUMBERS! I had my SGS3 at my desk and it had -117dbm. I had 4g LTE and made a perfectly crystal clear call. Later near my desk (not in same spot) I had -82 dbm and had 4g LTE and made a perfectly crystal clear call.

At home, I again can be anywhere from mid 80's to high 90's or maybe 100 and I have zero dropped calls, all them the most clear I've ever had on a cell phone and amazing LTE speeds (anywhere from 8mb to 37mb down depending on time of day).

People need to relay REAL WORLD experience with using the phone on calls and for internet. Don't just say, "ummm, derrrrrr, in settings it says -105. my phone SUXXORS!!!" deerrrrrrr

I think Samsung may have a bad way of calculating that number. Plus those of you comparing your previous phone that was NOT ice cream sandwich to one that is, is pointless. The new software calculates that number differently and many websites have said it's close to 20 dmb worse than gingerbread on many phones (meaning if the phone was rolled back to 2.3 it would automatically get a number 20 lower (better)).

When my GNex was reading -120 with an asu of 99...I could still make calls too, but mine would drop at the absolute WORST time. Like my GF would say "I love you honey", and I'd go <click>. The lower the dBm rating, the higher the probability of dropping the call. Period. Mobile phone signal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That article also discusses the asu rating. If you're running a -80ish dBm, the probablitiy of a dropped call are almost nil. Also, if you're running a -120dBm rating, try to download an app.

I returned a GNex due to the terrible radios. It way underperformed as far as WiFi, 3G, GPS. Sounds like GS3 is much better.

Sent via EVO LTE

Yep...did the same thing...Now I have 4G at my house...IN my house...IN my basement...if I turn off my WiFi.

Yes bad Nexus

Sent from my Galaxy S3 on Tmobile..

It sucked, too...I loved that Gnex!

I want to try to get to the bottom of this, given Samsung's crappy track-record with CDMA/LTE radios.
If you go to System Settings-->About Phone-->Network it should tell you your signal strength in dBm. Mine for example on my Rezound at the moment is -82 dBm.

If you're coming from another LTE phone, how does it compare?

I have an S3. The signal is aweful. I spoke to Verizon but to no avail and later sent to Samsung for repair.
No use. It's just the same and additionally now I feel I'm getting a headache whenever I use it. Looks like the radiation level had gone up but not signal strength.
-97 was the lowest on a lucky day. It always hovers aroung -103 to -100. The funny thing the calls dropped when I was in touch with Samsung itself.
My colleague who sits next to me with Veizon/ Motorola phone always has high 70s signal strength.

I'm so frustrated I 'm planning to dump it for HTC J Butterfly and never touch Samsung in my life.

sweet cause one of my phones (Samsung Fascinate) gets -105 dBm and my other (ZTE Imperial) sits around -68 dBm. when they are sitting next to each other.
