UnrEVOked is coming out with a permanent NAND unlock. This will make your phone fully hacked. No more booting into recovery to mod system, people can make metamorph themes, you can flash a radio without going back to stock first, you can downgrade radio without having to do that whole crazy downgrade HBOOT process. Basically this will let you flash anything. Be careful what you do flash tho. Here is the link to the UnrEVOked Forever. The link is up but the NAND unlock is not there yet. It should be up soon so keep checking throughout the day. unrevoked forever

EDIT - LINK IS UP AND RUNNING!!!!!! GO GET S-OFF!

Pretty clear that there is no need to check during the day.;)

Can't wait for this there are some root apps that I would love to run but need full NAND unlock thanks for the good news!

what does this mean for the casual user that has found a rom they like and doesn't switch back and forth all the time?

what apps in particular need full nand unlock to run?

Its definitely not for everyone. This step can't be undone and voids your warranty.
This will allow you to update your recovery via Rom Manager, Use Terminal Emulator and Root Explorer to move/remove stuff from your phone. You can also flash radios with this.

Like I said it is not for everyone.;)

The ability to flash radios is huge! There was no way I was going to update to radio 2.x prior to tonight knowing i was going to loose all my data. Now It will be a simple flash through rom manager!

Umm, I flash radio's all the time and I do not have full Nand Unlock. I am running a EVO with Unrevoked3 root. I have flashed the rooted version of HTC's OTA 2.2 and have updated all the radios. All you have to do is boot to recovery then go into clockworkmod and you flash anything you like.

update everyone, Unrevoked just told me there is issues with the last batch of testers. So they are going to postpone the release..... keep checking the link periodically

Well, not to be rude or anything but you don't know what you're talking about. Clockwork WILL NOT FLASH ANY RADIO!! This is the reason why people had to revert back to stock recovery to apply the OTA that gave you 2.05 radio. What he means is with this NAND unlock you wont have to do none of that. You can flash ANYTHING with this.

This is not something noobs would probably want to do. You can damage your Dinc. beyond repair if you don't have decent Android knowledge.

Yeah saw that on Twitter, it will be great!

Your right, I dont know what I am talking about but I do know that I have updated my EVDO radio and my WIMAX radio twice.

Sure looks like the latest radio to me.:p

Yeah but you had to boot into recovery to do it. With the NAND unlock you wouldn't have too flash back factory then flash the updated radios. Full NAND unlock will be nice cause I can mess with some system files without needing to boot into clockworkmod first!

**EDIT**
Doh need to read better first....clockwork you can flash radios, man I'm slow tonight! If you have the proper zips you can flash radios with clockworkmod, some people need the easier way though. Either way.

Yes you are absolutely right. But, most of the people do not know that, unless you have decent experience with stuff of this nature. Once NAND unlock comes you can just flash anything in HBOOT.

Yes my main thing was I didnt want to revert back to stock and loose everything not that it couldnt be done. I rooted and installed a froyo rom however did not update the radio by accident then come to find that if i do flash the new radio I'd loose all my data so I am going to either 1) wait for the OTA radio and use that or 2) wait for full NAND unlock and flash the leaked radio.

That is smart advice. This isn't rooting, and very few people have a need for full time NAND access.

Does anyone know if the official OTA's radio will have a different version then the leaked radio update? Or is it something we will only know until the release?
