Petition against AT&T/Motorola anyone? Good or bad idea?

AT&T says 'new devices and updates to existing models' will be HSUPA-ready -- Engadget

Isn't this word from ATT that this will be taken care of? Or am I missing something else (probably)?

Anyway... signed!

Nope. Just because an item is HSUPA ready does not mean it still not somehow be capped as to potential bandwidth by AT&T. People are reading way too much hope into this statement. AT&T is beyond the "trust but verify" stage of relationship to the "prove it before I believe it" phase.

So the rep from the AT&T corporate office called me back in reference to the BBB complaint that I filed. He said that he was able to speak with the chief engineer for my area and that the HSUPA issues are directly related to the fact that my area and SC in general has not completed its transition to 4G. He said that once the transition has been completed, the HSUPA problem will be resolved. He also reiterated that if I'm still not happy, I should return my handset immediately.

if you would have llistened to the podcast last week. they gave a very good explanation on why its capt and why iPhone isn't. come down to the phones are not certified for those speeds.

No. AT&T is intentionally capping data speeds on the Inspire 4G and the Atrix 4G; there's no question about that. AT&T has never put customers first, and they never will until someone puts a huge dent in their wallets... The problem is that the iPhlop is their cash cow, and they will do anything to ensure that iPhlop owners are kept happy...even if it means capping data speeeds on phones that are capable of achieving speeds that are superior to the current generation iPhlop to avoid iPhlop owners from having to suffer crippled speeds due to overloaded towers which are the direct result of AT&T not having enough towers to support all of their clients. Simply put, AT&T does not have enough towers to keep the owners of their cash cow happy because of lack of towers due to not caring about customers when it comes to their profits... Verizon puts 30% of it's earnings into towers. AT&T puts like 5% of it's earnings into towers; the rest goes into the AT&T bigwigs' pockets.

Presidents office asks if you've gone through custer service before sending complaints to the president. I honestly said no and she transferred meto customer service and I hung up.

Forget them. Just go to the Better Business Bureau. The president's office will call you. You don't have to go through customer service at all, and if they want to keep their accreditation with the BBB, they have only so many days to resolve the issue that caused your complaint.

Hmm I just called the president's office to follow up on my complaint, was told that my case was closed and that a letter has been sent to me. Now this is weird...

Just got informed that the IPAD 2 (which will be on AT&T's network) will be supporting HSUPA. Wow ya all, aint that a slap in the face? If the IPad 2 is good enough to be uncapped and we aren't........I have no idea what to say. If they were worried about data usage being the issue with the current devices on it, I could understand. Adding more while refraining other is totally unjust.

I sure hope somehow that the IPAD 2 specs are wrong for their sake.

Wi-Fi + 3G model: UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

Bull on what they told you. I am in Charlotte and we have fully implemented HSPA+ and it is all active, but the problem is still there.

Remember, these were the specs that were initially listed on ATTs site for the Atrix too.

I can't help but think that ATT is still playing favorite with Apple, and is making sure that Apple products have the advantage over everything else on their network.

I will be very interested to see if ATT cripples their other new so-called "4-G" phones, the same way the Atrix is.

Time will tell....

My old Palm Pre+ averages 40 percent faster download speeds than my new so-called "4-G" Atrix is getting!

If they leave the iDouche 2's upload speeds uncapped they're gonna be in for a wild ride.

As much as I like this device, and as much as I like att, I am still thinking I may just return it before 30 days is up and re-purchase when this is worked out. It took them 7 months to get 2.2 out for the captivate. And people KNEW what 2.2 was and that it was available for other phones... This crap, just seems too easy to put on the back burner. If its not fixed by this summer when they start with the lte then it will likely never be fixed at all. They will have bigger fish to fry. The only other chance is maybe a custom rom that will enable it. There are people who have reflashed their htc inspire's to an open market phones software that enables the hsupa, and it works just fine on att's network. So do the iphone 4's that come like that.

If I can convince myself that it will be available to me by summer I'll happily keep the atrix. So somebody pleeeese CONVINCE ME!!

Hang in there little horsey. The speeds are quick enough to get the job done. So eventually, they will be quicker. Just give them time. There trying to rush themselves out and compete with other carriers to make this working. So eventually, its gonna happen.

Just to give all of you an update, YES, the IPAD 2 has HSUPA enabled. Yes, that is a big slap in the face to us. There is visual proof on the AT&T Fail page on facebook.

If you haven't already signed the petition and/or filed with the BBB, please help us all out and do so. This is all over the internet now and we have AT&T's full attention. Let's demand that update with a firm date for implementation.

I agree ,plus at least they are still supporting the phone and we know its not going to be abandoned at least for a few months.
