Phantom Notifications

Hi guys,

Since Oreo update on my Verizon N8, I'm getting phantom notifications. I'll hear the notification sound, but nothing pops up on lock screen or in notification panel. Even with the screen on, phone in hand, I occasionally hear a phantom notification.

Any ideas on how to check what is causing this?

Oh you got a notification. It's there, but it's set to not show. Check all your settings in app notifications. I had few that had sound with no display that I got email or messages.

Just in the last couple of days, I've had a "Number" show up above my "TypeApp" eMail App icon (usually just 1) and I open the App and there's no new eMail! Just in the last few days? It's never done that to me... can't say if a sound was associated as the number showed up while my screen happened to be on (I guess it still should have made a sound though, hugh)!

I went through every app that is set to give a notification and turned off the sound for any I don't want to make a noise. I'm still getting phantom notifications. I'm wondering if it's a glitch between Android notification settings and Nova launcher.

Could be. Also if you have a gear watch. It will make a notification sound or vibrate when bluetooth disconnects. I get a few sounds and sure enough it will be Xfinity email or a promotional email. Even though 7.1.1 never made sounds for those types of emails.

I gave up and did a factory reset. Will see if that fixes it.
