Just recently my S6, which I've had for about a year, has begun to register phantom presses of hte back key, making the phone almost unusable.

I've done a search and tried the following suggested fixes:
* Power saving mode on, then powering off the phone before turning power save off
* Drain power to 0% and charge from the Samsung charger with no power extensions.
* Resetting the TSP through *#2... (can't remember the number)#
* Uninstalling recent apps

Am i missing any other suggestions?

Clear the cache partition perhaps? I would certainly try that anyway. It's fixed issues for me before on other phones.

Are you using any case? Screen protector? Try removing them and see if the phantom presses are gone.

I bought a Samsung s6 with phantom behaviour screen kept doing random things without touching the phone and solved this issue by removing the back cover unscrewing all screws and removed the screen from the housing I then unplugged the LCD connector along with battery connector and used a cotton but with isopropyl alcohol and cleaned the connector . I then put the phone all back together and now the phone behaves exactly how it should hope this helps others. I believe the heat had caused the LCD connector to warp
