Hi everyone, I just applied the phantom skinz to my phone and stupidly I applied it to my phone and it was all good but left a smudge so while battery and phone on, I reapplied the screen protector without realizing the phone was still on... now it seems like there was too much water and the screen is distorted. I am so stupid. Anyone know if I really messed up my phone or is it possible that its just water that needs to evaporate or do I need to go to radio shack and get a replace (if possible)? Man please help me out please!

Note do not use so much water!

remove the battery, leave the cover off, put it in a ziplock with some rice and leave it for 6 hours or so, it should dry it out. If its just distortion you should be ok, if it got into any of the actual circuits you might be up poop creek.

theres moisture stains at first, then the second boot up it started to flicker and screen was dark... any thoughts.

Sounds bad, I'd try to dry it out, where did you buy it from? BB? If so did you get the black tie protection?

Water damage isn't really covered under any warranty. As I said before, At least dry it out and see if its fixed.

when it comes to electronics and water, you don't' want to have it powered on for at least 48 hours. don't think it's better to have it on raising temperatures, because it's not.

Like someone above stated...Remove the battery and leave the phone off for at least a day or so. Turning it on when wet could fry it. Hopefully you have TEP insurance. Put the phone in an air tight jar and get some of those silica gel thingies that come in new sneakers and stuff. put those in with the phone and check it in a day or so. Good luck!

The gel things are called desiccant. It is a hygroscopic substance that induces or sustains a state of dryness (desiccation) in its local vicinity in a moderately well-sealed container. (credit to wiki)

This will work exponentially better than rice.

Stop messing with the phone and let it dry at least 24 hours. The more you mess with it, the bigger chance there is that you will do permanent damage.

With Best Buy, Water damage is covered. Lost or stolen isn't. With the Sprint Assurion, it is not covered so you have to pay $100 to get new Evo, that is if they don't already have some referbs they want to pawn off.

Thanks for the help everyone, its currently on rice with one silica gel packet, with the battery cover out, and in a bag. The screen this morning definitely still has moisture marks/stains as I booted it, I pulled battery as soon as I saw it. Looks like I'll be Evoless for a day or so... I'll post an update tomorrow morning.

I still think Best Buy has the best plan. 10 bucks a month and they cover light water damage. Just no submersion. And sorry to hear about your phone.

EDIT** Sorry McPlot, I didn't see your post up above. In that case, +1 for Best Buys protection plan!!

If you still see water do not try to boot it up. Trust me. Let it totally dry before putting the battery back in. Powering up with any water could fry it and then your done. Without patience, the above advice everyone is giving you will be worthless.

Dude this happened to me with my Invisashield or whatever its called...

Just let it Dry out my Screen was flickering and krap and it stopped the next day...

Its been working fine ever since.

thanks for heads up, its public now. The phone boots up though but the screen remains the same... Wondering if I should continue to wait for it to try or is it permanently damage? I worry because I have seen no progress since day and half ago.
