Android Central Question

My PC has wifi issues, so I want to connect my phone to it to use it to share internet connection. The problem is, when I plug in the phone to the PC, using a USB cable, it just charges the phone, I have tried changing the usb configuration to MTP, enabling USB Debugging, Using a different cable, using different ports, and restarting both the PC and phone. None have worked. When I went to "Control Panel > View devices and printers" while my phone was still connected to the PC, there wasn't any other devices besides the Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, PC, and CdRom devices. I went to the Device manager and there were no drivers to update, in the Universal Serial Bus controllers, and there were no "Other devices". Pls help :(

Welcome to Android Central! Not all phones have a USB Tethering feature. Which phone do you have? Go to the system settings menu and search for USB Tether. If you don't find it, then the phone can't tether via USB connection.

I made this question before making an account, so I don't think I can edit it. However, I am still the maker of the question. I have an O+ Compact Pro. I have went to Settings > Tethering & portable hotspot and have seen "USB tethering" though it's gray, does this count?
I was able to connect my phone to a PC before to transfer files, but now it's not working.

I think I've seen the USB Tethering option greyed out in other phones as well -- I always thought that meant it was a stock Android feature that wasn't available on the phone. Let me ask around.
