Hello! New over here, came looking for answers and support to a strange event that happened to me this past week. I was using navigation on my S9+ when I looked down to find my Google Maps Navigation screen shrink to the lower righthand corner. Mind you, I was not touching the screen. Then up pops the dialer and before I know it, one of my contacts (I rarely call) is being dialed! Again, nothing being touched beforehand. I quickly hit end and hoped the call did not go through.

I was charging my phone at the time, the screen was on and I was currently using an app (Maps). This contact was not one I had called recently. Anyone else have this happen? I checked my call log and sure nuff, there was the evidence of the call taking place. It wasn't a big deal, but can you imagine this happening when I wasn't looking directly at the phone, and it leaving a strange voicemail of background chatter? It could turn out to be quite embarrassing! Anybody have any idea on how to prevent this??

Thanks!

PS. I'm not positive, but I am almost sure I heard the Google voice prompt before the number dialed.

If you had the radio playing, Google Assistant may have heard OK Google, or something close enough to trigger it, then something close enough to "Call <your contact's name>" to dial the call.

I've gotten more than a few "pocket-dialed" calls. Since the mic used for regular (as opposed to speakerphone) calls isn't very sensitive, mostly what people hear is definitely people speaking, but more humming than words. I can't recall a pocket-dial in which I could even identify the people.

Thank you for responding! Just wanted to add that I have no voice prompting allowed on my phone, all of it was turned off. I went into my permissions and canceled the "phone" permission for all my Google apps and it hasn't happened again. I recommend others with S9 phones to do the same!
