Phone fell out of my pocket onto my wood flooring approximately 3.5 feet. Shattered. No insurance, since I've never broken a phone before. Little did I know how sensitive these infinity screens are nowadays.
I'm lucking enough to live near Samsung's 837 store in the Meatpacking District. I brought it there for repair the next day and to my surprise they only charged me $199 plus tax. I was quoted $292 when I originally called support. My receipt clearly says it was an out of warranty repair. I bought the phone about 35 days ago. Regardless, I was told they had to change the battery as well (I guess they damaged it during the glue removal process?) They definitely did replace the battery because battery monitor clearly shows it was turned off at ~80% and turned on at 15% about two hours later. The new battery wasn't listed on my receipt. They clearly also replaced the midframe since I had a thin green line of stickers on the midframe and a Qualcomm sticker that I had taken off originally. Very happy with the outcome. I probably would have paid more if I bought insurance.
I immediately bought the Tough armor spigen case instead of the slim useless one I was using.
I'm not also looking for a good screen protector if anyone has any suggestions. The Whitestone Dome looks overwhelming but it seems that's the best option?
