Phone -blink on and off

I have problem when I place a call the screen goes black but the call goes through- even if I press the side button it still goes black
Any ideas? I have already done a factory reset

Make note of where you're placing your fingers or anything else near the phone. Just to the left of the speaker at the top is 2 small spots that look like LEDs. They're actually the light sensor and proximity sensor. The proximity sensor is there to turn the screen off when you have the phone to your ear. If you cover it with anything, this is what the phone will think and thus, black screen.
