Phone calls and alarms not showing over screensaver on Oreo

After updating to Oreo, incoming calls and alarms are not displaying on top of the screensaver. I use Dashclock as a screensaver while charging the phone at night. I've also set the screensaver to the native clock application to test and get the same result. A call will come in or my set alarm will go off and the phone will stay in screensaver mode. I can still swipe where the answer icon would be and it will answer. I can also dismiss or snooze the alarm by swiping where that would be as well.

Am I really the only one that uses a screensaver at night while charging/docked? I can't find anyone else complaining about this issue.

I have performed a complete factory reset after updating to Oreo. I also just got the Sept. security update yesterday and the problem still exists. I'm running stock Pixel XL on Verizon. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

Do you have the screensaver set as priority over other apps? I've never used one, but that sounds like what's happening.

Not sure where I would find that setting. I thought that was something app developers set in their app. That's why I tried the native android clock app. I was thinking something similar was happening. Unfortunately, even the clock screensaver does the same thing.

I have the same problem. Sometimes the snooze/dismiss screen will come up and sometimes the screen will just go blank. I've tried different screensavers with same result. Also if I tap the screen while the screensaver is on sometimes the screen will go to the lock screen and sometimes will go blank. I have found if I just the power button twice it will go to the appropriate screen. The only solution I've found is an alarm app that will keep the screen from locking. But I'm not a fan of the looks of what's available.

A Textra SMS app developer told me that Oreo will not allow apps to display notifications on the lock screen. Before Oreo, Textra would display new messages on the lock screen, but now I have to unlock the phone to view the message when the notification alert sounds. The display will "wake up", but only the lock screen clock is displayed.

I'm using Textra on Oreo and my new messages still show on the lock screen just fine.

Thanks for your response. Which version of Oreo are you on? I am stuck on the beta version and the messages stopped appearing since the first beta. That is when I contacted Textra and received that response.

I'm on the final release version. Verizon network. I was never a part of the beta.
