Phone dialer not working right....

I have noticed this several times over the past week.

If you dial a #....then are required or need to enter an extension ...say 4344. The phone will not take anymore then the first number, unless you put the speaker on. It seems the number has to be larger then just one digit. have not noticed it with verizon voice mail,.....but when I call any other number where I need to enter an extension of say 4 numbers....the phone will blank out after the first..and not take the others. Only way around this is to put the phone in speaker mode.

Anyone else get this to happen?

Is no one able to recreate this. if so...then I must have a defective phone
