Phone dialpad

I remember on my S3 that there was an option to make the phone app automatically show the dial pad whenever initiating a call... This was handy for systems requiring keypresses to navigate their menu. I cannot find that option anymore now that I have an S4. When on a call, I have to manually press "show keypad" Anyone know where that option might be buried? Also if the screen times out during a call and I need to see it, my device locks and I have to swipe my pattern. It used to be that the phone app would override device lock, thus when the screen turned off, tapping the home button would awaken it and the phone app would be right there.
