This phone is going back. Sent one phone back due to GPS coordinates not being placed in photo EXIF file. Replacement does place the GPS coordinated in EXIF file; however, this weekend, constant dropped connections while sitting and not moving as well as when walking around the house and property.
I do live where the service is not great; however, my Pixel 4XL never had (or appears to have) this problem.

I really liked this phone, loved the screen, liked the customization I could do, like the way Samsung corrected all the strange things Google did with Android 12, but this dropping of connections, on numerous calls with different people just leads me to believe that Samsung is having problems with this model and not worth my time to fiddle fart around.

Therefore, it is going back and not for another replacement, for good. I'm sure not going to pay $1200 bucks for a phone that does not work as a phone.

Weird. I've not had any of these issues you mention except gps in pics. I have weak signal too at my house and it's been reliable.

Weird not having single issue as of now...
Maybe service provider issue ?
U had unlocked model ?

You have 30 days don't you?
Why not wait till this next update and see if it helps.
I had some strange connection problems and losing network connections, but it has all seemed to have worked it self out.

I would absolutely send it back if I was having your issues. Thankfully, I'm not.

I wonder if the new 5G phones are the issue for you since you said you were in a bad area., Weren't you having the same issues with the pixel?

If the GPS is only a problem for your photos, that sounds like a possible settings issue. Did you double-check that your camera app had geotagging enabled and that the app was granted location permission?

In areas of bad service, some people get better connections if they turn off 5G.

I had the same issues. I constantly had dropped calls and dropped Wi-Fi signal. it ended up going away so I'm not sure what the fix was. I did mess with the randomization Mac settings and that seemed to help with drop the Wi-Fi signal. Also I replaced my SIM card and that fixed the dropped cell signal.

This phone had signal issues; kept dropping calls. No photo issues with this phone.

I had 5G turned off, it is not available where I live so I turned it off. Had to get an app to do it since I'm on a Verizon MVNO and even with an unlocked phone Samsung allows the carrier to lock the phone in to 5G via the SIM card,

As for return? I had until April 30 to return to Amazon. This was the second phone from Amazon, not sure if that time would be extended, but really; just got sick and tired of having problem with this phone.

And even if my Pixel cannot get a signal if I go east of where I live (basically, when I walk into Wyoming, approx. a mile away), it never dropped a call in my house, when I'm sitting in my recliner.

The final issue was this AM after walking the dogs, I called Amazon tech and they had to call me back four times due to the signal cutting out. They recommended to return the phone; I totally agreed and it is being dropped off in a few hours when I get around to heading into town to UPS store.

As for waiting for an update? I could have, but I'm headed out of town at the end of this week for a few weeks and just didn't want to hassle. I'll stick with the 4XL for a time.

Might be time to look back at Motorola, or see if the pixel 7 fixes the problems they have with the 6-series.

Bears are starting to wonder around so spring is coming. I'll have plenty to do than worry about a phone.

If you like updates, don't look at Motorola. Had a Moto X Pure back in the day, it was supposed to get updates quick, lol, what a joke, it got maybe 2 updates the whole time I had it. I also had a Lenovo Phab 2 Pro (had a nice large screen for the time), but it received exactly 0 updates when I used it.

I think I just read a recent story that was also talking about how Motorola was still bad with updates, at least compared to Google/Sammy/Apple.

Retg sorry to hear you still having issues.you have to do what is best for you.Thankfully I have not had any of those issues.I have had 1 small issue with lag on 1 app .that’s android central I have to keep clearing cache because it doesnot always load.I very happy with mine.

I had a Moto Edge before the S22 and updates weren't bad. I had an unlocked model and got security updates pretty regularly. No dropped connections ever and a really nice reliable phone. I still miss the Moto always on display. Honestly nobody does that better than Moto. I just got tired of the average camera and wanted a change. I really love my S22 and have had no problems with it, but Motorola isn't as awful as folks here like to suggest.

Samsung Galaxy s²² Ultra 256Gb [ Exynos ] UK.

No issues thus far.

It's certainly a conundrum why some are experiencing issues and some are not.

Some people in the UK are advising to get a Qualcomm Snapdragon version instead of an Exynos SoC but I see from some posts here the Snapdragon is experiencing some issues too.

I'm using a Moto Z3 Play as a backup phone on TracFone, and it works great as a phone... solid reception, as good as any other phone I've owned. Wife's used a Moto G6 for years... never an issue. My 2015 Moto X Pure Edition same thing, never an issue. As far as doing what a cell phones supposed to do they work great. But they aren't the fastest phones around, the cameras are mediocre, and they get the least amount of updates of pretty much any brand. But because of their bang for the buck I always like to have one or two around as emergency backups.

And they run mostly stock Android, so they feel very similar to a pixel when you're using one... my wife's G6 on AT&T even has call screening just like my pixel, she's so hooked on it I'm going to upgrade her to a pixel for her next phone. But I don't believe my Z3 Play on TracFone has call screening, just a heads-up since you also use TracFone. (I'll try and verify that for you tomorrow)

You could definitely do worse ;)

But, if you're used to flagships it will definitely feel like a step down.... I personally couldn't use one as my main phone anymore. But I also tend to use phones for 2-3 years, and that's when you really start to notice the lack of updates. I'm going to be picking up either a couple of pixel 6's on sale or 7's for me and my wife.

I checked my Moto Z3 Play and it does have call screening on TracFone... so you wouldn't be losing that feature RETG. I think Moto phones come with call screening by default, at least our 2018 versions do. When I update the call screening on our Moto phones the update description says "Call Screening for Pixels", so I'm guessing Moto has some agreement with Google to use it?

One of the biggest reasons I like Moto phones is the Pixel-like experience :D

Yeah it's almost like a silicone lottery with issues on both variants.
No issues here, pleased so far but I can understand the frustrations for those with problems.

No such issues on my S22, and in fact, seems to have a better signal from Verizon in areas that previously were very weak to non-existent.
