So I've had the March update since release and that supposedly fixes the speed issues - well not for me. Camera is still extremely slow and when taking video, it lags out and crashes sometimes. The camera is still slow to load up and takes 4-5 seconds before I can take a picture.

Also when my phone has been asleep for a while and I wake it up, it is really laggy and takes around 5-10 seconds to catch up and start performing normally.

Guess I'm done with the phone. My S10+ should be here in the next week. Honestly, the Pixel 3XL won't be missed. Far too buggy, far too many issues, half baked features and just not nearly with the price imo.

Amen brother!

I think Google knew what they were putting out in the market last year. They knew all they had to do to get attention was to make a better camera and throw in the words 'regular updates' and that was it. Google boys jumped on the ship just for that.

Don't get me wrong, the camera is still amazing and really versatile. But is that enough? How could that be enough?

And these updates, ahhh. They patch security issues. Great! Show me a phone which has been put at risk for not receiving these updates. All phones handle security equally today.

The version updates, well... Yes you will get them sooner than anybody else. But what you'll get is what everybody else is already doing. I see how the next updates is focusing on fixing the gestures. Wow! What an amazing step. Taking them a year to realise what's need fixing. Excellent stuff!

Google boys will be Google boys.

I wish I sold this phone while it was all caught up in hype. With all these issues and the outdated look the demand has fallen and the asking price has plummeted as well. Don't want to suffer such a big loss as I'm a student.

Most of the people I see in the forum have more than one phone at their disposal. They can't understand what the word 'value' means. I mean good for them, they're fortunate enough to have multiple phones but they don't think about people like us who could only afford 1 and trusted Google with their money.

Sorry you had all these issues continuing , cant understand why some have this trouble and others dont .

S10+ is a excellent choice, good luck with everything.

I somewhat agree. Mine lags too sometimes. Kinda stutters and it clear when opening folders after not using phone for awhile. I think it is the stupid 4gb of RAM that they put into this thing. 4gb of ram and a $900 for base xl. Greedy for sure.

Mine can still be pretty slow from time to time even after the update. For instance, i just did the double tap power button and the camera took a full 5 seconds to load. After it loaded, i swiped right on the pill to jump back to this webpage and it froze for a second and then had to reload this page. I get lots of little hiccups like this and it's a little frustrating.

Also, is auto rotation wonky for anyone else here? There are times I'll unlock my phone and the home screen will open in landscape mode even though I don't have they option enabled. Apps will sometimes load in landscape and it's hard to get the phone to recognize that I'm holding it in portrait mode.

Overall, I'm not thrilled with the way this phone performs.

If you are having all of those issues there is definitely something wrong with your phone. If you can't clear it up by routine trouble shooting I would see about getting it replaced.

Perhaps. If it's a hardware fault, it seems that it may be fairly widespread. I've seen plenty of forum posts and articles about the pixel's performance that makes me think that Google just needs to get it's act together. There was a patch for the camera loading in the March update, so they apparently at least know that there are performance issues with their camera app. The rest, I'm not really sure.

I agree with Mustang. While I find it unlikely the "I can be your hero" is going to find happiness, I wish him luck. Me? I'm always lucky and Google sends me good phones. My major interest is taking photos and that's quick and accurate for me. I'm not sure what lagging is but I'm pretty sure I don't have any, anywhere. For disclosure, I have the Pixel 3 with 64Gb.

Good Luck with the S10+. I sincerely hope it delivers satisfaction for you. I'm sure it's an amazing device.

I think it's a shame some users haven't had the same issue-free experience as some of us have. I've bought all 3 generations of my Pixels on launch day and haven't had any major issues. I've haven't had to return a single one and they've all worked as advertised for me.

I believe some people have genuine issues with the phones, but some issues I believe are more misplaced that aren't a issue with the device. Developers don't update their apps to the newest OS for months, if at all, or perhaps there's a bad actor in the bunch.. Who knows?

There has to be some reason as to why some people are issue free and others aren't as fortunate. IMO, I think it's a combination of apps and user error/impact. I know I've run issue free for two and half years with 3 generations of phone. It's gotta be something...

My gripe is that i have issues with Google's on apps not playing nicely with one another. I can't share a ten second video that's backed up to the cloud in Google photos to Android messages. I'll get the loading wheel in the text box on messages, but it never actually loads the video. It's highly doubtful that this is a hardware issue.

If I were having some of the same ongoing issues others have described, I would try something else too. My Pixel 3 has been terrific from day 1, so I'm prepared to keep it for years. Samsung phones don't tempt me. I have had several that all had software glitches for which Samsung never issued fixes. I always felt abandoned after the sale.
