Phone not charging via headphone dual adapter

On my Blackview A90 I've tried two different types of USB-C wired earphone adapters that include a pass-through charging port. Neither charges the phone, although the audio comes through. Does anyone have a suggestion as to why, and is there a solution?

Some work and some don't
I think it has to do with the USBC headphone drivers. the first time I plugged .one in it popped up to install a USBC headphone driver. The single unit ug in doesn't work but the one that has a cable works.

It's been a while since I've heard mention of this sort of adaptor, but I know it use to be advised not to use them because they could cause problems (mainly overheating if charging and using the headphone jack). I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't an answer to the problem.
