Phone not connecting to windows?

My Galaxy Ring isn't showing up on my Windows 8. When i plug it in to my computer through the usb cord,
1) my phone starts charging
2) a message pops up on my phone notification bar that says "Connected as a media device"
3) my laptop makes a sound when plugging it in/unplugging it
The only thing that isnt happening is a message isnt showing up on my laptop that lets me get into my files.
When I go to "computer" on my laptops files my phone doesnt pop up.

All I want to do is import my photos from my phone to my laptop but my files arent showing up on my computer

Have you tried updating Samsung drivers for your PC?

You can download them from Samsung's site. When they are done downloading, you click on it, and the install wizard should come up.
