So which do you prefer? I like both and can't decide. The phone style is good for one handed texting which I do a lot. But it's terrible for doing searches, passwords, and URL's. But the qwerty is harder one handed.

You're thoughts?

I can't use anything but the standard qwerty layout, I'm just too used to it. I've been using the new SwiftKey X and it's awesome. It has settings for typing styles - precise or rapid (read: sloppy) and with the sloppy setting I just peck away and it virtually always corrects all my mistakes.

With Smart Keyboard Pro & Swiftkey X I prefer On Screen qwerty, but I'd maybe consider a full slide out 5 Row QWERTY like on the Droid 3.

When you say phone style do you mean the old style where you'd use T9 input on your phone's number keys? I always hated that. I got a qwerty as soon as the Treos came out and never looked back. The old way was always a stopgap solution, and I felt a very awkward one. Qwerty FTW.

As for screen qwerty vs hard qwerty, I still miss hard qwerty. I made almost no errors on my old Treos and could type like the wind. Now between no tactile difference between one key and the next, and fighting with the *******ed autocorrect, typing is a frustrating chore. I've found that the keyboard you use does matter (I've settled on Better Keyboard 8 after trying numerous ones), but that any of them are still inferior (for me) to hard keyboards.

Yes some people still use it. Helps with one handed typing.
