Phone Random Shut-Offs

Well I had recently read an article on the Droid Incredible randomly turning off in North Carolina. I thought it was terrible, but I was happy mine had not turned off. I should not have spoken too soon because that same day my phone began to randomly turn off after only a few minutes of use. I happen to be in the Washington DC area so I am wondering if my problem is something unrelated. The worst part about it is that after it shuts off, it will not turn back on no matter how many times I press the on button. In order to turn it back on I take out the battery, put it back in, and then plug in the charger. Even then it only lasts for a few minutes before it shuts off again.

Does anyone else get this problem and how can I fix this?

Sounds like either your battery isn't holding a charge, or your charger isn't charging properly. Have you tried charging through a USB port to rule out the AC charger part as being faulty?

Well the orange charge indicator will come one occasionally when plugging it into my computer or into the wall, but half the times it won't charge. But my phone turns off even when it claims to be fully charged. Sometimes it requires me to turn on my phone before it will charge, but it is nearly impossible to turn it on which leaves a problem.

It was working perfectly a couple days ago though, so I don't know what just happened to cause this.

yesterday mine started randomly restarting for no reason. I would just pick it up and boom, restarted. weird.

I had mine reboot/restart on me on Sunday morning. It's the only time that has happened. I do get the occasional htc..sync.background or something like that error.

Mine has randomly rebooted twice, that I know of. I guess when memory reaches a certain limit, it reboots to free up RAM.

Today I've had three random reboots / shutoff-restarts whatever you want to call it. Why?

Hmm that's interesting that it started with a bunch of us on Sunday. Hopefully I can get this fixed because other than this issue I love that phone, but this is a pretty big issue.

for the past couple days mine has been randomly rebooting...whether plugged in or not. i'm not having any charging problems, it just randomly restarts. this is a huge issue, and i'm glad i'm not the only one with it. anyone call verizon about it yet?

I've had 1 random reboot since last Tuesday, April 27th. I also had one episode in which the phone froze without anything on the screen and the only way to get it functioning was to pull the battery. Besides that, everything has been great.

That's all petty stuff coming from a Storm so I'm good...

according to the verizon wireless forums it's due to cell tower switching. apparently the places that are most affected are areas with worse coverage....which seems about right for me. mine reboots in my house and when i'm at work. when i step outside of both places i have great coverage and it hasn't rebooted.

apparently verizon is working on the issue. most reports have been from NC, and apparently verizon has people working on the issue there...hopefully not just there though because they aren't the only people having the issue.

just got off the phone to make sure they weren't only addressing the issue in NC, and i found out that "the greensboro, nc area" is the only area technicians are working to fix the problem. she said i have to go in to a verizon store and ask for a replacement to confirm it's a network issue and not a phone issue for my area.

I have experienced multiple restarts a day since last Sunday. I live in orange county, CA. I will take it to my local verizon store and see what they say.

Mine too has rebooted a few times starting around Sunday. Both times it has happened either when being picked up or set down. I am wondering if it is a battery connection issue? The reboot to free up RAM is a good theory and probably does happen, but with 700mb+ of RAM not too many people should be reaching that cap, especially if the phone is only a week old or so.

Is there an app for monitoring up time (i.e. time between reboots, reboot logging, etc...)?

Mine has not rebooted when I have been using it. I would just sit it on the counter and hear a short buzz and look over and bammm, it rebooted. Then without touching anything, it did it again and again. Like three times in a row.

Weird. Havent had one today however since the update.
