Phone randomly restarts

Hi everyone,

This morning the phone did a random reboot it's the 4th time this happens, I understand that I should boot up in safe mode but can I still use the phone in safe mode? This is the first I experience this so my questions may be trivial to some

Has anyone else encountered random reboots? Is it something that sometimes regulates itself?

Any input will he greatly appreciated

I would check in Device Care, See if auto restart is enabled and the time schedule

I just checked it and it isn't enabled, thanks though I didn't even know that existed lol

I already uninstalled 4 apps that I thought could be the problem

I don't want to do a factory reset how long do I need to keep the phone in safe mode?

No problem
You can keep it in safe mode until you restart again

But I can't use the apps on safe mode right?

How long do I need to keep it in safe mode until I restart again? Will I know what app it is just by booting in safe mode?

Mine reset this AM as well... and I was pretty sure I set it to do the Auto-restart on Sunday MORNING... that way if there is an issue it doesn't effect my alarms.

Maybe an update was pushed?

I don't think it was update though I can't say for sure and it's the 4th time this happens

But you set the auto restart?

My auto is set for Saturday Night/Sunday Morning... not Monday.

A pushed update shouldn't restart your phone all by itself.

How long do I need to keep it in safe mode until I restart again? Will I know what app it is just by booting in safe mode?

Safe mode disables all 3rd party apps, that way if you have a issue with an app u know try it for few hours or a day see if the rebooting goes away.

It only reboots every few days but I'll try it for a day or 2, silly question but I can still use the phone and text right? It's only 3rd party apps I can't use?

Mine has rebooted a handful of times. Everytime, though, was while using Android Auto (through receiver) in the car.

I am having the same issue . So it's a widespread issue it seems. I posted on Reddit someone else was having the same issue. I a fresh install, no restore from backup up. Seems to happen in the middle of the night. Auto restart isn't on. The phone is off waiting for me to put in my password showing the android P logo. It says phone rebooted, please enter password.

This is really annoying. It caused me to miss an appointment because my alarm didn't go off since phone was rebooted. Really bad problem. We need a solution. I was going to return my phone this week. Maybe it's software ?



Also, the safe mode thing isn't really helpful, since the issue is intermittent. Sometimes it will reboot over night, sometimes it won't. Sometimes it will be 2 days, and then it will reboot for the next 3 days in the night. What a ridiculous problem to have! My phone has minimal apps, like Whatsapp and some google apps added. I don't need safe mode to tell me there's something else going on here.



I also tested the Auto Optimize feature (Not Auto restart) by enabling and disabling, seems that the issue is not caused by this either. I've also wiped cache partition (which helped for 2 days) then it started again. So unsure that is related.

Thanks for posting the links I haven't had a restart in almost 2 days, thing with safe mode is as mentioned it can be a few days between restarts

When mine does the restart , in the morning I need my password to start again , my question is this, does this effect my alarms. I would hate to depend on a alarm that does go off because the restart needed my password
