Phone randomly went black

Just tried to open device to look at a picture and the whole phone just went black. Battery was at 82%. Tried to restart a few times, plugged in, finally about the 4th time I tried to start it, it did start up. Any ideas why something like this would happen? Absolutely zero issues so far with this device. This was the very 1st oh gosh it's dead moment. Thanks!!

Maybe an app is misbehaving? If it happens again maybe try to put the phone in safe mode and see if you can recreate the issue..

Remind me again how to get into safe mode? I did just download a robocall killer yesterday.

Ah gotcha ..maybe that app might have caused it ..

To get to safe mode power down the phone then wait a few seconds.. press the power and volume down button at the same time until you see the Samsung logo at which time you will just keep your finger on the volume down..you should see safe mode in the lower corner of the phone once started ... To get out of safe mode just the regular restart phone should get you out and back to regular..

Thanks! So once in safe mode how do I see if an app is causing issues?

It's more for if the phone keeps shutting down safe mode you would just use the phone and see if it happens ..and if it does you can uninstall one app at a time till the issue hopefully resolves..I would wait to see if it was just a one off ...also you can see with the settings battery area if any apps are being put to sleep ...

Your phone's black screen could be due to software errors, conflicting applications, hardware problems, or temperature problems. If it still cannot be fixed, take it to a service center.
