I believe you will have to call virgin and have them transfer the number.

Yes. Just activate the phone on your account and everything switches to the new phone.

And, you don't need to call. It can be done through the web.

Also doing a phone switch will my plan stay the same? I have the $40 grandfathered plan. Thanks for any help!

Yes a warranty replacement will keep you on the new plan. Even if you were upgrading you will keep your current plan.

Also Bust Buy should be able to set the phone up. However if they dont/wont I suggest calling Virgin, be persistent and ask for a supervisor or corporate rep to speak to. That way you can be sure you keep your plan and not get double charged.

i had to exchange my phone at radioshack and the workers there did all the talking to CS reps to get my number and account moved to the new phone. hope its that way at best buy as well

It's so easy to do yourself online I'd rather do it than let the store employees do it. Takes a couple minutes and you're done.

Anytime Ive done the stuff online with Virgin I end up having to call them. Plus make those people at bestbuy work for that commission they got off selling the phone. ;)

I dunno-if I were wanting to keep my grandfathered plan, I would trust me more to do it online than a stranger that doesn't give a hoot....

It's really easy and quick.

I bought my OV at Best Buy as well, and it was pretty easy to "upgrade" from my Rumor2. You just log into your account online, click swap phones, and activate the new one. Or Best Buy's people's could probably do it. Not sure if they'd charge you though. lol
