Help I'm sure there's nothing I can do but has anyone have any advice as what to do. Or is there any way that my text messages could be already backed up to Google. Though my app data was only backed up since July so probably not anything recent. Help me fix this I would greatly appreciate it. I've been having a problem my phone I've already factory reset it twice in the last 6 months. It is a year and like five month old HTC 10 though.

yes it seems that that is the case do far I also just updated to September security patch.

Hi,

I searched this forum for what to do when the all the text messages disappear and came across this thread. This happened to me last night. My phone was running low on battery and eventually died. Next morning I turned on my phone to check messages, and only saw the new messages I got on that day. I panicked and tried the stock message app and also showed all messages disappeared. I have exhausted all options at this point (restart, different msg apps, recovery, etc) and I decided I will restore my texts from a very old backup but am really distraught about this. Like many people I am strangely attached to my texts messages.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? I have a HTC 10, rooted, software 6.0.01, and have not applied the security update because it keeps saying the file is corrupt (probably related to my custom ROM). This is the first time this has happened to me although I read online that it has happened to other HTC models.
It might be time to do a reset any way but I just wanted to make sure I cannot recover my messages before wiping the slate clean. If anyone has any suggestions would appreciate it.

Do you use Google backup ? If so, Google drive may contain some backup data

Actually, yes I do use Google backup and really wish I thought of that sooner. I just checked the backup however, and it said it was backed up today at 7:26AM, so it looks like it overwritten the old backup data and replaced it with the new messages because the file size is only .7MB. =(. It doesn't look like Google saves more than one backup =(.

then you guys are all the replies, I am just restarting and using my Backup Pro to backup my text messages. there's also other text messaging apps you can use like SMS Plus which will backup your text messages to your Google email account.

Yes, after struggling with this for way too many hours, I'm going to do the same. Lesson learned.
