I am an android noob.
How do I get all notifications and ringers to go to just vibrate?
Right now when I silence (put in vibrate on the volume buttons) the ringer works as it should, but text notifications and others make sounds. Am I doing something wrong?
Or does it seem there is something wrong with my phone?

Also, as an aside, what are the profiles? How do I get ringer and notifications to ring plus vibrate?

The phone has several sound settings. If you hit the volume rocker up or down you can see where the volume is or if it is on silent. Hit the great icon on the popup to see the settings for all three volume settings. For your second question, you can select your preference in the settings menu when you open your messaging app. Top right corner, three vertical dots. Hope this helps.

Ok, I think I figured out that basic.
But, the thing is when I set ringer/notification to silent or vibrate, my text messages continue to make sound. This is highly annoying when I am in court or the movies.
This doesn't seem right. Please help.

I am having the same problem. This didn't happen with my original HTC Evo 4G. I turn my phone to vibrate only and have someone send a text, it vibrates and my notification sound is triggered, and my phone shows ringer mode is on not vibrate only.

As a VERY recent iPhone convert, I have a very similar question. I can't believe this would be complicated- iPhone has one switch on the side that you could have some reassuring tactile feedback that it was set to vibrate only.

Looking for a simple way to toggle to the "Vibrate" sound profile in sounds without drilling down in the settings.

Is there is a clean, simple app or widget (that isn't some advertising BS or a some other resource hog) I need to use or is there a setting within the One?

>>>Edit: Found the widget, listed as "Profile" tested and works SAT. Ugly icon but parked on a screen, it does in fact toggle from Normal, to Vibrate to Silent...<<<<<

Yeah, my phone is in Vibrate mode, used the toggle switch mentioned above. But, when I receive a text it sounds the notification.
All I want is for this phone to vibrate, and vibrate only when I receive a text or call. Is this possible on this phone?
I don't get it, all other phones I have had this has been a basic and simple thing to do.

Does silent mode still vibrate?
