Phone shuts down completely during sleep

Sony xperia ion LTE not only goes to sleep but it won't wake up unless you power it on. How can I fix this? Is it fixable? I don't want to leave it awake all the time and drain the battery.

The power button may be damaged from a hardware standpoint. As for fixing it, I am not sure.

thank you. I thought it might be a setting problem but haven't tried to flash the rom or anything yet. I am expecting the phone today or tomorrow to work on.
