Got a Note 3 on ATT and this is my 3rd one. Tired one on ATT and took it back and got one on Verizon and now I'm back on ATT because of the unlimited data plan. Any way I've never had this problem with the first two so I'm not sure what is going on. Phone stays awake and screen stays on. Timer is set to 30 seconds and I switch it and changed it back again thinking something just didn't work right. Now until I did this I never switched any of the settings. Only had the phone for 5 days now and had meeting all weekend so not real time to play with it until now. Just so it is clear what I'm saying is the screen just stays on and it's on the home screen.

Should add this does the same thing on the lock screen. If I put the phone to sleep by pressing the power button and then wake it back up so it is on the lock screen it also stays awake. In other words the screen just stays on, I have to push the power button to turn the screen off

Did you restart the phone? Also, you can try to toggle it to 1 minute, leave it and then switch it back to 30 seconds.

I have restarted in a couple of times and it seems to work okay for a bit but then goes back to staying on. Now I did toggle the setting this morning and after a reboot it has not stayed on after that so that might have fixed it. Had done several reboots over the last few days with no luck but now that I toggled the setting and did a reboot maybe it will be fixed

More than likely it's an app that you installed that's the culprit. You don't mention anything about any apps that you may have installed...

Well I have the same apps I've had on the other 2 and they never did this. Now it is doing it again today so not sure what the heck is doing it. Might just take it back and make them give me another new one. Not sure they like having to give me a new screen protector too but they can send them back to zagg maybe. I'm not sure what else to do now

Just give it some ZzZQuil and call FBA in the morning......early. Real early. :)

So can this be a hardware problem? Or does it have to be software? The odd thing is I also get a notification that is titled "Prevention information" and it say an application has been forced to stop for an unauthorized attempt to access system in your devise. It may be safe to delete an application obtained from an unauthorized route. Check now? When I click check now I just get a list of apps on my phone. How do I tell which one is doing this?

Phone staying awake is usually software related.

The prevention crap is a known problem and has a few threads discussing this. Just tap 30 days to remind you and forget about it for now.

My girlfriend have had the same problem since she got her new Galaxy S3 3-4 weeks ago. It usually goes away with a boot in safe mode, but after a few days, the screen is back to not shutting down by itself.

Are there apps that are known for causing this kind of trouble?
