Phone stuck on power off screen

[Android Central Question]

My music app wasn't responding so I tried to turn my phone (Sony Xperia) off and on again. It spent ten minutes showing the 'power off' screen but not powering off. I tried holding the power button for 10-15 seconds, and now it is completely frozen on the screen that shows power off, restart and screenshot options. How can I fix this?
