So I decided to go ahead and root my GS4 today, used the one-click root tool posted on XDA forums ([TOOL](ROOT)(RECOVERY) i545 all-in-one root + recovery installer Updated 7-8-13 - xda-developers). Never done this before, but it was supposed to be a simple root program and I'm very familiar with un-rooted android products. I had no problems with the initializing but once it got to the screen that says "Downloading... do not turn off target!!"
it has been stuck for over 40 minutes now and Odin continues to say failed over and over. Can I kick it back out of the root? If so someone please help ASAP.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Don't fret. Just hard reset the phone and start over, same thing happened to me. Once you start over and get back to the "DOWNLOADING DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET", pay attention below where it says that, a loading bar should begin to appear from the left. I had to do it a few times to get it right
