Hey all, old forum, I know.

My wife recently upgraded to an S10 and I'm in the middle of selling her S8. When she had it, there were 0 problems. I took the phone to sell to a potential buyer, factory reset it, and now it turns itself off every 60 minutes (give or take). The phone is not linked to an account and it still at the initial setup state.

Is this a "feature" and once they get the phone linked to an account, it will no longer behave this way?

I'm not trying to sell a defective unit to anyone but it's really strange that it started happening after a factory reset and is recreatable every single time.

Hope someone is seeing this and knows something about it lol

Thanks!

FWIW, I took the phone off the setup screen and just connected to WiFi, no Google account or anything, and the phone has been on for 2+ hours now. Seems like it's a "feature" of Samsung phones, I guess. Never heard of it but figured I'd chime in w/ my report.

The phone was actually shutting down? Maybe it's a safety feature, since when the phone hasn't been set up yet, the user wouldn't have been able to set a screen timeout yet.
