So my girlfriend dropped my phone in the bath a few days ago for a couple of seconds, dried it off and thought nothing of it but then minutes later i went to use it and the screen came on and then went off. now my phone turns on and off, works perfectly, i get phone calls text messages and everything like normal BUT the screen is always black, I'm guessing i need to buy a new screen? before i go ahead and get one off amazon i wanna see if anyone has every fixed this or if it could be something bigger then the screen. Yes i did leave it in rice for about 3 days but still nothing. Thanks in advance!

Don't waste your time with the phone or you might spend more than the phone is worth. It could be the screen or motherboard causing the issue, but there may be more unseen issues like the charging port, camera modules, etc. Best you think about just replacing the phone and probably selling it on ebay for parts listed as water damage.

Exact same scenario happened with my Note 4. Ironically I was a water-resistant Note 7 pre-order customer that would have save my phone from being "water-damaged", screen black, but turned on fine, could hear notifications, etc.
Luckily my insurance covered the repairs through my bank so now it is working fine. It was the screen for me, NOT motherboard. In fact the white sticker inside with purple arrows was showing the phone wasn't water damaged.
