Ok so I just read another thread about my issue and apparently the only fix was to dump AT&T. That won't work for me so here goes.
I have a job where I drive all day. And while work I am on group conversations to my fellow workers with my Bluetooth.
If I unlock my phone to make a call then turn off the screen and put it in my pocket the screen is off but it is completely unlocked. So in my job I am on the move all day and if my leg bumps the power button it turns on the screen in my pocket and allows any app that my leg finds interesting to open randomly. It actually ordered me an UBER one day while I was on a group conversation. I got another call and it was the UBER guy looking for me. He was actually following me around on my route

So needless to say it is very frustrating. I have all the appropriate settings turned on/off. I took it into Best Buy to the Samsung guy and he says it's just how it is. Well that's unacceptable especially when it's costing me money with data costs and also UBER charging my account.
Also when I hang up on a call that I placed the screen lights up then once again my leg starts opening apps. It happens so quickly that I can hardly get it out of my pocket to stop it.
The setting to " remain locked while in a pocket or dark place" obviously isn't working and I've been close to tossing this phone out of my truck about 500 times.
I just came from an LG G3 that had ZERO issues with this. How can a $900 phone lack in the most basic of settings?
Please help before this phone gets thrown into to traffic.
BTW this is my 2nd GS8. I made a warranty claim on the 1st one bc of this issue but it apparently wasn't just that phone.
