phone won't charge, it freezes, its a galaxy s6

I don't know if the battery is defective, and I can't take the back off because it's sealed. I have stuff on the phone that I need......

I had this problem twice... First one I realized my charger was putting out 24v and almost destroy my phone! Hanging was the only symptom my poor phone could give.
Following that I had a bad cable on my car charger. Same hang. This time the car charger shut off and gave a blink code.
Have you tried a different charger/cable?
