Okay so I have a slight problem. My phone will not receive the ics update and its really starting to piss me off. It's a refurbished phone and everytime I check new for the update it will search for like two seconds then nothing will happen. Then I click on the status and nothing shows up except for code: 0. I've already called Verizon and they said to just wait cuz they don't know what's wrong with it and also I've already factory reset everything and still nothing has happened. Does anyone know what I should do?

Make sure your stock is one,and check your software version to see if its been flashed.

hahah .. You have my phone!!! I had the same problem a month or so ago with my Rezound. after several calls to HTC support (tech), I was told one of the services that is used to get updates is not working.

You can send the phone to HTC for 3/4 weeks to fix or ask Verizon for a replacement. Per HTC tech support your not supposed to get nothing after you hit software update. Your supposed to get a second window saying the process completed with No updates or Updates found.

Good luck..

Could probably just flash the ICS .12 RUU, would rewrite everything and put you back to a known good starting point... oh yeah, that would put you on ICS too!!! :D

Or, if you are stuck on getting OTA, you could flash the RUU for Gingerbread, then update, but why take the extra steps...

Can you tell me how to do that? I'm not real good with these things lol

Do I install all the mirrors or just one?

OK, let me simplify this for you....

Download ONE copy of the file from any of the Mirrors (a mirror is just another copy hosting the same file).

Copy it to the root of your SD card (in Windows this is generally the second drive letter that appears when you plug in the USB cable and select Disk Drive), or download it directly to your phone and move it to /sdcard/ext_sd/

Rename the file to PH98IMG.zip, case sensitive

(an extra measure of safety here would be to use a utility like ES File Explorer to verify the MD5 Sum matches what Android Police says it should be)

MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS AT LEAST 80% FULL BEFORE STARTING!!!

Power off the phone completely...

Power the phone back on holding VOL DOWN + POWER until the process begins then release the buttons, it should do so automatically with no additional input from you. It takes a while 20-30 minutes to complete, it will restart several times but should eventually take you to the setup screen, if not pull the battery after 30 minutes

Power up normally and let the phone boot up completely, do NOT go through the setup process. Power off and repeat the last step, let it flash the file again (this is generally accepted as the best method even though it is not in the instructions on AndroidPolice), it should then reboot and you can proceed through setup like normal.

Once everything is good, delete the PH98IMG.zip file from the SD card so as not to accidentally flash it again, wiping your phone.

If this sounds like too much, there is a step by step RUU executable for Gingerbread that is an application run on your PC and it prompts you through everything, even more foolproof, but will require you let the OTA go through afterwards to get ICS. If this sounds better I will link you the info...

Sorry if I'm asking to many questions but I'm dumbfounded still lol, but this is the last question and its probably dumb. Do I download these mirrors from my phone or do I need a computer to do so and transfer it from there?

You pick one mirror of your choosing, if it is slow or fails, pick a different one, it will download a file called "rezound_AndroidPolice_3.14.605.12_PH98IMG.zip" (w/o quotes)... it doesn't matter if you download it to the phone or the computer as long as you know how to get it to the correct place.

Pick ONE of the following options:

If you download it to the phone, use a file manager (ES File Explorer or something) to move it from /sdcard/Download/ to /sdcard/ext_sd/, then rename it to PH98IMG.zip

If you download it to your computer, plugin your phone via USB and select Disk Drive on your phone, you will get two new drive letters, one called HTC STORAGE and second one with no name but just a drive letter, copy it to the one that is NOT HTC STORAGE and rename it to PH98IMG.zip (remember that if Windows sees it as a ZIP file, then it will not show the .zip extension, so don't add it or it will appear to the phone as PH98IMG.zip.zip and it will not work)

How long did you wait? You gotta wait on that same screen for like a minute. Don't push any buttons or anything.

I've waited a long time and still nothing happens but when I hold the volume down and power button at the same time, nothing happens. It just starts up normally

Thanks for the thought, but he is saying that it QUIT searching after like two seconds, he was not getting the window that says "Checking for new Software available now." then "Finish" with a response.

This is different then the slow response in the "Finish" window. And BTW, I always get a response back in under 15 seconds, even when on WiFi and 3G/4G has to start up for the check and even when the servers were bogged down with the ICS update roll out.

Check the filename on the phone, download ES File Explorer and open it and navigate to /sdcard/ext_sd/ is the file there with a name of exactly "PH98IMG.zip" w/o quotes and capitalized exactly like that? Also, since you got ES File Explorer now, long press the file, scroll down to properties and make sure it says "PH98IMG.zip" as the filename, the Path is /sdcard/ext_sd then press Show Checksum, in the File Checksum window tick MD5 and click Calculate and verify the information matches ec526757ebe84c066e31907e5fccd987 exactly (might take a couple minutes for a response), if it doesn't match you will need to delete and download again because the file is corrupt.

EDIT: PH98IMG.zip sorry, I always put it in wrong the first time

Okay I've tried like all the download links and they're either corrupt or not working. I'm downloading the second one now and every other one didn't match the md5 number

Hold down volume down button first than press power down at the same time.one other thing, make sure u put that .zip file on the root and not on another file in your removable sd card.

k... try this one: http://www.androidfilehost.com/main...RUU_Vigor_VERIZON_WWE_3.14.605.12_PH98IMG.zip it is slow, but reliable.

EDIT: Nevermind, it is pretty fast... I got all 600MB of it in like 3.5 minutes, will throw it in my DropBox shortly and link it back here if you need it.

The MD5 should be the same.

Yeah, but even so, the MD5 does not match... really don't want to try to flash that, it should fail but why take the chance. But you are absolutely correct, that is the best way way to hold the buttons to get it to go, the buttons are not always the easiest on the Rezound to hold, sometimes it takes a few tries.
