phone won't show up on My Computer when plugged in via USB

I had this problem for ages and finally solved it. Neither my phone nor Sat Nav would be recognised on the Windows 10 laptop but both worked perfectly on every other computer including desktops that I used. I bought the cheapest (£10) USB hub with external power supply I could find from Amazon. Both the phone and Sat Nav work perfectly through the hub but I have no idea why !

Make sure you are connected to the internet, go to device manager and look for the missing driver marked by a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark on the portable devices section of device manager. select it and then click update driver and have your computer search automatically for update driver software. this should find it, it did for me anyway. after this my computer recognised my device. the reason some of you have this issue is because your computer doesn't install the driver automatically for some reason. so therefore you have to do it yourself.

Sounds like you need updated USB drivers. It would seem the PC isn't providing enough power to the USB.

I have a Droid turbo and it won't let me see the notification window. I've tried everything. I did a factory reset and nothing. I'm so pissed now. help please. I could've sworn there was a place in settings to click usb but I can t find it anywhere. I tried the developers deal too and it didn't help. thats why I did a reset to get it off.

It was the same for me, tried every setting possible but nothing. Tried numerous cables, still nothing until i tried the cable that came with my sons vtech watch and it then worked fine. so it was having the right cable all along.

I had a similar problem, my phone would connect fine for charging or usb storage, but not for debugging. I have an LG phone, so I searched for "LG android drivers" and downloaded the LG usb drivers to my PC. My phone connected just fine to debugging and rooting device

When you connect can you see the USB symbol somewhere at the top? Sometimes it may function intermittently. Had the same issue with my phone. It was charging fine though. I cleaned around the usb connection port on phone. Used a toothpick to just pick around the connectors(didn't have any small tools or anything better). The bottom portion on the connectors is way too small so just used compressed air bottle to blow out a little. The top and sides used the toothpick to clean out the dust and dirt (there was lots on my phone). Take your time and clean gently around the usb connectors on phone.

Once I did this my phone is back to normal again.

Hey: This method worked for me, thanks a lot I was struggling from last week to make it functional.
