I got my galaxy s5 about a week ago and i was able to use my headphone and speaker perfectly fine . But last night i was listening to music on my ihome using an aux cord and the music cut off.

I have verified that neither the aux cord or speaker is broken because it works with other phones. I have tried other wired speakers and none of them worked with the phonebut the notification pops up that earphones are connected. The audio jack cany be broken because they detect the speaker and still work with headphones. I have also tried a factory reset which did nothing. Please help

Are you using the same AUX cable to test other speakers? I know that the 'it works with other devices' argument is tempting, but sometimes the impedance from faulty cables or ones that are too long can trip the phone's output and not work properly. I'd try a different cable first and also make sure that when you connect the speaker the volume levels don't go to zero automatically.

Yes i was using the same aux cord and i tried a couple other ones aswell

Mmm...that's weird. And it only happens on AUX? It's basically the same as headphones. Have you tried headphones without mic/control input?

Could you try booting your phone in Safe Mode and trying the AUX cable there? I'm curious if it's an app that's modifying the output volume for some reason...
