phone's interface looks ugly after update - how can i revert back

Hi,

I had a popup display for a system update and now my phone's interface looks really ugly. Also the phone is making phone calls on its own without any action from me! How can I save all my contacts and revert the phone back to its original settings?

The update was pushing you from the FroYo (Frozen Yogurt) android release to the GB (Gingerbread) release. I suggest you stay on GB as it is a big improvement over FroYo. If you go back, the phone will just ask you to update it again. There are ways around this, but you need to root your phone first. And if you were to root your phone, you would be best to stay with GB, install Phoenix Rom 0.3 (which I believe will be deodexed) and then use the android kitchen to change the user interface to one you don't find so ugly.

Your contacts should have been stored by you into your Gmail account from day one ( remember that this time ) now though you need to Factory reset your devices it is probably having app compatiblilty issues between 2.2 Froyo and 2.3 Gingerbread this has been a common issue with said update on several devices.

Factory Reset does not revert it back too Froyo unless you do the actual android reset code thing. Ive heard that the buttons are Power+Volume down+ U And you will be promted too the actual factory reset. Ive also heard thats its Power+U, And Power+ Volume down. Either way, those woudl reset it.. Factory reset in the phone wipes off all data BESIDES! Updates.. Or you can go to the sprint store, and get a new device. They dont update it for you, so Youll be promted to update yoruself if you choose.

I accidentaly hit the same update then tried to kill it and install phoenix .3 but couldn't get it to take lost root how can I get root back
