Phonetic names Android 4.3 to 4.4

I have a Nexus 4 and since updating to android 4.4 my phonetic names don't seem to work.
I had a contact who's name is Giulia
In 4.3 I added a phonetic name of Julia and everything was working fine.
Since the update it wont recognize this name but will return another friend who's name is julia.
I even re-edited Giulia and used the voice input to record the phonetic name with no luck.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I haven't partly because I stopped using it to bring to contacts. I would suggest using last names as well. Makes it a touch easier and helps to clarify when you have a lot of those with the same name.

Yes.. I observed same problem... But it wasn't because 4.3 to 4.4. Just before kitkat we had one Google now update.. That broke phonetic name search. Waiting for fix. Logged issue with Google as well.
