Phote/Video Recovery on Note 8 without Rooting

I recently deleted some very important photos and videos (less than 40 total) from my gallery and am having a hell of a time finding an app that can recover them. I did use DiskDigger and surprisingly it did find my files. But, the quality of the photos were worse and the videos were nothing but single frames from the whole clip. A lot of what I've read says I have to root the phone. I've never done this and prefer not to mess with something I know nothing about. Plus from what I've seen on here, there is no need to root phones anymore, especially the Note 8. Is there something I am missing? Once these are deleted from the gallery, are they lost forever? Any advice is much appreciated!

Unless you have them backed up somewhere, like Google cloud or OneDrive, you can consider them lost.
