Note 10+ I am a little confused. The video you can set resolution, but there is no resolution setting for photos. I'm assuming this is controlled by the aspect ratio? I can't find any really good articles or youtubes on this.

I took a picture with the standard camera (wide angle). Below is the resolution each aspect ratio gave. So by this, it shows 4:3 is the best aspect ratio to use for highest quality?

Sorry if this question seems dumb, but I'm not a photography guru.

Full aspect ratio 4032 x 1908
1:1 Aspect ratio 3024 x 3024
16:9 aspect ratio 4032 x 2268
4:3 aspect ratio 4032 x 3024

Full aspect ratio:

1:1 aspect ratio

16:9 aspect ratio

4:3 aspect ratio

it's very much a personal choice but I will be using the highest quality which is the 4:3. I always handle any cropping myself.

Usually I use 4:3 to maintain quality. But if am taking photos of nature, I prefer full or 16:9, so that I can use them as wall papers on my mac or note.

Correct. The sensor's ratio is 4:3, so anything else is just cropping the image and lowering the resolution. as you can confirm by multiplying each pair of pixel measurements for the various aspect ratios.

If your only going to be viewing your photos on the phone then just go with whatever you like best and dont worry to much about resolution! I use 16:9 and i personally am happy with the results!

I just took 4 pictures and looking the details for each one I found the following:
3:4 - 4032 x 1908 (results in 6 M)
9:19 - 3024 x 3024 (results in 9 M)
1:1 - 4032 x 2268 (results in 8 M)
Full - 4032 x 3024 (results in 12 M)

So, my results are very different from the ones mentioned by Borgle in his message:
Full aspect ratio 4032 x 1908
1:1 Aspect ratio 3024 x 3024
16:9 aspect ratio 4032 x 2268
4:3 aspect ratio 4032 x 3024

And in my case the highest resolution was in Full instead of 3:4 that you mentioned.

What is correct?

I'm going to assume you have the 10 and the other poster has the 10+ which would account for the difference, but I'm nobody here. :)

You need to check your MATH.

4032x1908 is the FULL setting
4032x3024 is the 3:4 setting.

Here are my results with the 12MP camera:

3:4 3024x4032=12.1MP
9:16 2268x4032=9.1MP
1:1 3024x3024=9.1MP
Full: 1908x4032=7.6MP

Here are my results with the 16MP camera:

3:4 3456x4608=15.9MP
9:16 2592x4608=11.9MP
1:1 3456x3456=11.9MP
Full: 2184x4608=10.0MP

The Note 10 and the Note 10+ both have the same cameras. The Note 10+ has an additional Time of Flight (ToF) camera which Samsung calls DepthVision camera with VGA resolution.

Reread those ratios.

1:1 is NOT 4032x2268.

The Note 10 and the Note 10+ have identical cameras. The ONE difference is the Note 10+ has fourth camera called a Time of Flight (ToF) camera which Samsung calls, "DepthVision" camera which is VGA resolution.

I'm assuming the rear camera here... not my results at all. I took photos, then reviewed the details and marked them as to each setting. here is my experience for the 10+. what phone do you have? is there another note 10 model?

3:4 4032x3024 7.05 mb
9:16 4032x2268 10.43 mb
1:1 3024x3024 11.43 mb
full 4032x1908 10.99 mb

I knew they were different. so why are we all getting different numbers?

Which camera setting did you use?

The Photo setting has all three cameras available, the 12MP "normal" The 12MP "zoom" and the 16MP "ultrawide."

Live Focus uses the 12MP "zoom" and 12MP "normal" cameras.

Instagram uses the same cameras as Photo, but automatically defaults to the full setting. Food setting uses the 12MP "normal."

I'm not sure how the Pro setting works, I believe it uses the 12MP "normal" camera.

Those are the 12MP camera, not the 16MP ultrawide.
