I am getting very tired of Google's penchant for wanting to track my finances, my diet, my doctor's appointments, etc.....

On the Verizon (US) S5 it comes with 'Gallery' and the damn thing keeps wanting to login to Picasso, which I will never do for the reasons mentioned above.

So, I want a replacement Gallery app.... Too many out there for me to waste time fooling with, I prefer sage advice from those who have been there.

.

Well I'd recommend Photos, but that is also a Google app...
My favorite is Gallery JB+, which comes with Camera JB+ but that's a paid app ($1 iirc). It's the same as gallery, but I never had to sign in for it to work.

Go into your Google account and disable the Picasso sync.

Exactly what I did... I disabled Picasso and the problem was over, also you can try Quickpic for your photos............

Another vote for QuickPic, which has a very nice interface, and only accesses your local photos. It has no cloud capability.

Another vote for QuickPic if you don't like the stock gallery app. I have used QuickPic on all of my other Android phones, but I like the stock Gallery app that comes with the S5. The stock Gallery app lets you drag selected photos into different albums and is very easy to organize.

Could you explain to me how to do this - step by step? I went into my app tray, opened Google, then settings and couldn't find anything to do with Picassa.
Thanks

My vote and what others have already stated for is for QuickPic. I like it because its much much much faster than the regular gallery app!

Go to System Settings/Accounts-Google/[your Google account], then uncheck Picasa. Bear in mind that it might actually be listed as "Google Photos," which is different from "Google+ Photos." The one without the + is what syncs with the stock Gallery.
