I had this happen to me once last night. First time its happened. I got the phone on launch day. I contacted motorola about it and I'm waiting to hear back from them. I'll let you guys know what I hear back from them. I really think it's a software issue that can be fixed with an OTA update

so I spoke with motorola this morning. I'll give you guys the cliff notes of the conversation. Tech support wanted me to try a software update. I told them I want to speak to a supervisor. Level 2 support took the issue to her higher ups. Came back and said that it's NOT a known issue. also that to her knowledge, no software update is in the immediate future. She did forward the issue to the engineering department. Maybe of enough people call and complain we will get the issue resolved.

1866 289 6686 is motorola number. Hit the # a few times to bypass their menu to speak to someone. Their automated menu is looong. Get a supervisor on the phone. Normal techs are a waste of time. Lets go guys, everyone do their part

that is what I was afraid of... Unfortunately we all need to return our photons. My new on is on its way. I hate when company's are arrogant and pretend they have no idea what is going on. This is a problem. I will be calling Motorola as well. Thanks for the number!

Well I called that number, told them what was going on rather than telling them to fix the problem and they had "no idea" they told me to wipe the device or swap it. I work at a sprint store and after reading this forum, the Motorola forum and another android forum we clearly know that a wipe or new device will not solve the issue, I then turned him to his own Motorola forum while he "politely" put me on hold so he could read. He then turned me over to higher tech support and he also suggested I either return the phone or send it in to Motorola. SO I also asked this "tech" to research Motorolas forum about the issue and he point blankly said there's nothing to do. So if Motorola isn't going to do anything, what is the next step???

I think we need to get one of these blogs to actually report the issues we are seeing, so that there is more noise made about it. Sprint and Motorola are going to keep denying the case until it becomes a public outcry.

I honestly think its a software bug and motorola will fix it. The phone is less then a week old and to think out would be a perfect phone is pretty nieve. I will give motorola some time. Remember you always have the manufacturers warranty or third party insurance

I'm sorry, but I disagree. We can deal with many things. Slow UI, poor UI, poor screen... Those are choices users make when they purchase a phone. However, working audio during phone calls is something that should NEVER ship from any manufacturer and/or carrier. There is no way we can let Motorola and/or Sprint off the hook for doing this. Random shut downs, sure, I can wait to get that fixed. Audio dropping out during calls, or not having any audio during calls is the basic feature of any phone.

If an update is coming, it better show up before the end of next week. That's as much time as I would give anyone before asking for a refund.

I notice the Random Shutdown happens when I'm in marginal coverage. The phone works fine for me all day...when I went into work where I might get 1 bar...the phone shutdown after a short period. Anyone else notice this variable?

My battery also seems to be at 0% on restart...and I come into the building with about 80% charge

Yes I am using Google voice. This is a horrible flaw and I hope it can be fixed. I am worried I have to return the phone. What r ur thoughts
It's getting worse, I had to restart the photon 3 times today, and I missed a lot of calls.

Also have had "black-screen" issue, where I cannot access the home screen.

Very dissapointed. Also, voice features have "locked-up" regularly alsong needing a restart to fix.

But,, in the meantime what do I tell my customers who can't reach me, and who I can't call back in anything resembling a reasonable time.

Voice search is now not working, and even after a fresh restart I cannot make calls. This thing is quickly turning into a brick , back to my Pre, ......too many cards never prevented me from making a call. Damm I wanted this phone to work.

I'm returning everything, Photon, Case, Holster, Car and Home dock tomorrow, and getting the full $385 refunded.

A complete waste of a week, I cannot get a refund on.

Sprint is aware of the issue!! Under device portal in S&R it is a known issue, and Motorola will and should know.

really - my only issue with this phone has been the fact that the calls just randomly don't work. I just got off the phone with Sprint talking to them about both of the Photons I have on my account. She reset both phones on their network and updated the profile... She said that Sprint and Moto are aware of the problem and that a Maintenance Release should be coming out within the next 2 weeks. All I have to say is that if the release doesn't come out in two weeks then I will be returning the phones... both of them... It's a great phone but it is a phone and should really operate flawlessly as one...I shouldn't have to worry about it working...
 
Mine randomly stops working, too. This is bad. Click an icon and it does nothing... Apps don install an just sit there. Requires a restart. Damn, I loved this phone so much.
 
Same issues here. Phone screen goes to sleep and does not wake up! I have to do a battery pull each time.

Had the call thing happen once so far

Ever since I swapped out my disfunctional Photon for a new one, I haven't had the reset problem. Only once did it not seem to be making a call when I wanted it to, but after a restart it hasn't happened again. I am tempted to go back to the Evo 3d, but the radio on this thing is just too good. If you are having these problems take it back a.s.a.p. and try a different Photon.
