Photos extremely washed out, help

I know this camera is supposed to be good but mine takes awful pictures. They are extremely washed out and have a halo glow effect around light sources. Its so bad I have stopped using the camera. Has anyone else had these issues and how did you solve it? Thanks. I attached some pictures for reference.

1) Are you sure you've taken the plastic film off the camera lens?

2) Try taking a picture in good light with the flash turned off. A flash at 5 feet or less (sometimes even a little more) can cause desaturation (washed out color).

Thanks for the reply. I have removed the plastic film over the lens and never have flash turned on so unfortunately my pictures are still poor.
