Today's bike ride across the SR-520 Bridge and back through the University of Washington campus to share the flowering cherry trees with 5 million others!

Today's Golden Gardens bike ride. The zoomed to 20x and cropped did not work exactly well!! And just a local street with fewer cherry trees and no crowds.



I wonder how many of them are actually used?

Arrived for a week in Wales this evening. A lovely sun set, with some Alpacas. I'm unsure what buildings near it. Not sure we will see another sun set looking at the weather this week

Richard Serra has passed away. I have captured some images of his work in the Olympic Sculpture Park.

I like the water image a lot. Are you close to Wales in the UK somewhere or from much further away?

And what did you do to capture that water that way. I can never figure out what exposure to capture it.

Here was an accident waiting to happen. Oh, wait, it did happen. I accidentally hit the knife on the table and I heard it hit. I thought it fell onto the adjacent stool. NO IT DID NOT! I knew I had to take a picture or two. When I went to get it, it was really quite well embedded and it took quite the two-handed pull to remove it.

Interesting. The first image was about 4600kb while the second was too large at around 6000kb and had to be resized to post. They look so darn similar in composition.

This was near Tenby, on a rare day it wasn't raining..

To be honest, this was cheating, I just used the 'long exposure' mode, next to Portrait.

Glad to see your feet stayed unpunctured! And yes the seemingly inexplicable size differences of images, at least to me, while trying to upload them is interesting.

B. Diddy and a few others on the 'Pets' thread were very helpful when I was trying to take pics of old pics– and resize them so they'd upload here. While suggesting that I try the Photoscan and/or Snapseed apps.
Have you tried using either or similar apps, for their respective resizing tool purposes?

. . . Although after trying them, it seemed to me that it was just as quick or quicker to simply Edit > Crop... very slightly in the camera app.

Thanks for the links. The issue with the size is that only after an attempted upload do you error out and then have to resize/rescale the images. I use Irfanview on the computer. You can set a percentage. Occasionally, the first scaling down is insufficient, so I have to do it again.

And, yes, Olympic Sculpture Park is part of the Seattle Art Museum and is located on the waterfront. Great location and some really neat and some very large sculptures. It was an old oil tank farm terminal. Oh, and both photo shoots were on a bike ride - wheel the bike up and down paths and ramps and the occasional staircase!

We're still thinking of investing in an Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner, in order to digitize our endless drawers & boxes of old photos & slides & film. Have you any experience with similar?

We also happen to be currently in need of a new: All-in-One and/or Home Office and/or Home Photo Printer. Main problem though, seems to be in finding one without tons of nightmarish [ 1 Star - "Absolute Junk" - "I'll never buy a _____ again!" ] reviews.

I went with this scanner from Kodak. It is a bit tedious but did a good job on some test slides. My motivation, yet to be achieved, was to scan slides from Greece from 50 years ago to compare with my recent trip. I friend has a more automated one but pretty pricy.

Yes, I am amazed, shocked, chagrined at Amazon review for various products. "The worse piece of xxxx I have ever purchased" on the same product with FIVE wonderful stars. I have to presume that quality control is absent and it is worth just sending out defective products along with serviceable ones in the long run.

Yes, the Grain Terminal is still there. I post pictures of it on occasion. The Happy Hooker fishing place has been closed for years. I think it might have been a safety issue.
